Pastor Catrina Blount was saved in 1985 at the age of 17 at Living Word Tabernacle Assembly of God. Catrina had already been a diligent worker for the devil. She became a mother at the age of 14 and nearly dropped out of school not much later. Instead of trying to become a good mother, Catrina threw herself into the world, damaging her life and those around her through promiscuity, shoplifting, drinking, and other forms of juvenile delinquency. In her view, God picked the perfect time to bring her out of bondage and into his light.
Catrina began her ministry in the church in the place she dearly loved: the choir. She is an anointed singer and has served as a choir director and praise team leader. Catrina began teaching almost as soon as she came into the church. And even though she participated in witnessing and evangelism ranging from door-to-door witnessing to street and tent revivals, she never considered herself a minister.
During the years of her first marriage, Catrina continued to serve the Lord as a faithful minister's wife and as a speaker at various conferences and events in the Texas South Central Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. She was also a member of Renew Fellowship Ministries, where she was further encouraged as a Bible teacher, prayer warrior, and encourager of women. Divorce came and rocked Catrina's world, but it set her on a path for greater ministry than ever before.
The Spirit of the Lord began to deal with Pastor Blount regarding ministry in a pastoral capacity in 2000. For many years, she pushed the vision aside, choosing rather to work for the Lord as a faithful church member. Catrina has operated in a variety of capacities in the Lord's Church, doing everything from working in the nursery to assisting with the training of teachers and ministers. As long as she was able, Catrina also lent her energies to the praise dance ministry and enjoyed worshipping the Lord through dance.
Catrina remarried in 2005 and experienced another significant challenge. But the grace of God is greater than every challenge.
After struggling with the feeling that God was calling her to do more for many years, Catrina found herself in a place of testing. Catrina left her church home of 11 years in March of 2010. She and her husband began to attend another ministry, thinking that maybe she just needed to change her environment, rest in the Lord, and forget about trying to do or be anything else.
God's plan, however, is quite different from ours. On May 18, 2010, while sitting in her car after work, Catrina was met by the Lord. He assured her that He had indeed placed a call on her life, and that she was to start a work in Katy, Texas. He even gave her the name "Eternal Word Fellowship Church" which was quite different from what she thought way back in 2000.
The church has experienced some challenges, but is more determined that it must continue to do God's will. Pastor Catrina continues to preach and teach online, and is searching for Eternal Word Fellowship's next physical home. When you meet her, you will understand that Pastor Catrina looks forward to a life in the eternal word of God, helping others to feel the love of God and walk in it.
